WWI Comes to the Palouse with Richard Sola
April 3 – 23, 2018 (Tuesdays at 9:30 am to 12 pm) Cost $25
The Palouse, along with the rest of the Northwest Inland Empire, played a little known role in the the First World War even before the U.S. entered the conflict in April 1917. Discover how the Palouse prepared as America geared up to fight the “War to End All Wars.” Especially important was protecting the war essential wheat crop, endangered by a blistering drought and the threat of sabotage. Learn about the universal draft emptying colleges, women entering the workforce, rationing, censorship, and the search for spies and subversives.
