Friends of Whitman County Library
Meeting Minutes
January 09, 2018

In attendance: Cheryl Jones, Wanda Alderman, Becky Lawhead, Velma Ulrich, Kristie Kirkpatrick, Shirley Cornelius, Sheri Miller, Jennifer Snead, Peggy Kehne, and Debi Hergert

The meeting was called to order by Kristie Kirkpatrick, in Sue’s absence, at 11:00 a.m. The November minutes were read and approved with one correction. The cost of the roofing is $22,000.

The treasurer’s report was passed and reported on by Shirley. Barn calendar sales have been wonderful. Palouse branch has a large balance from the Turkey Leg monies.

Old Business

Kristie suggested using the $12,000 raised during December toward the roof repair. Cheryl Jones made a motion to do so and Becky Lawhead seconded it. The motion passed. Nancy Rothwell made a $5,000 donation, which is greatly appreciated.
Tony Blackwell won the Christmas Tree raffle and donated the winnings to a local needy family.
A draft of the post card to be distributed to the public concerning the library levy was given out. No changes were needed. There will be a voter forum on Jan. 23rd at 7 p.m.

New Business

The barn calendars are nearly sold out.

Wanda Alderman made a motion to retain the current Friends of the Library officers. Cheryl Jones seconded the motion and it passed.

Grammy G’s Quilt shop is the December Supporter of the Month. Frank and Bill Watson of St. John is January’s.

A reminder was given about the annual newsletter and membership renewal which has been mailed.

Ideas were given about ways to fund raise such as white elephant sale or another cookbook.

Attendance continues to rise for the youth services including storytime and the technology classes.

Kristie highlighted upcoming activities such as the Molly Rice art exhibit, Galentine’s Day craft event and Zumba.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
