Free assistance for senior health insurance issues

Beginning this month, a representative from Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor (SHIBA) visits a number of Whitman County Library Branch locations assisting residents with all of their Medicare and insurance questions.

SHIBA volunteers provide information and counseling to individuals about health insurance and health care access. They focus on Medicare issues along with other health insurance related issues. SHIBA assists with complaints about insurance plans, Medicare and insurance fraud as well.

Marie Fowler from SHIBA will be in the St John Library the second Monday of each month from 11:00-12:00, the Endicott Library the second Tuesday from 1:00-2:00, the Oakesdale Library the second Wednesday from 11:00-12:00, the Lamont Town Hall the second Wednesday from 4:00-5:00, the Lacrosse Library the third Monday from 1:00-2:00, the Malden Library the third Wednesday of each month from 11:00-12:00, and Endicott -Dec 4 -1 to 3 pm.

Whitman County Library has partnered with Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington and SHIBA to bring you this assistance free of charge.
