A Sampling of What's Happening at the Whitman County Library
 

Thursday October 12

Colfax – 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – The Palouse & WWI – Richard Sola will help us discover how the Palouse prepared and entered into the conflict, as America geared up to fight the War to End All Wars. Oct. 12 – Nov 9, cost is $35.

Colfax, LaCrosse, & Tekoa – Bring your little ones to storytime for learning and fun!

St. John – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Tinker Tech Time – Students K-5 are invited for STEM activities at the St. John School.

Tekoa – 4 to 5 p.m. – Ladies Craft Circle – Join us for crafts, friendship, and sharing of expertise each week.

Colfax – 7 p.m. – From Field to Market – Explore the evolution and future of farm equipment, crop production, grain storage, and more. The exhibit, “Grain Elevators of Whitman County” by Dennis Witmer will be on display and sale.

Albion – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Thursday Art – Kids, come and join us for an hour of creativity with mixed media art!

Endicott – 3:30 p.m. – Tinker Tech Time – Students K-5 are invited for STEM activities at Endicott & St. John Schools, alternating monthly. Kids will use Snap Circuits, LEGO Mindstorms, Ozobots, and Magnetix. Single $10 fee per student.

Rosalia – 4 p.m. – State Park Storytime – Meet a real STATE PARK AIDE for stories and activities about the animals that live in our state! This program is designed for preschool through fourth grade, but families are always welcome!

Palouse – 6:30 p.m. – CyberSecurity Essentials – Learn how to keep your information secure whether at home or work. Mike J. McCully provides practical advice on identity theft, common web attacks, safe browsing, malware and more!

Friday October 6

Colfax & Rosalia – Play & Learn – Playgroup offers FUN and socialization for both parents and children! Come join us!

Colfax – 12 to 1 p.m. – Finding I AM – Join Beck Ewing for this six week women's interactive book study and discussion!

Malden – 12:30 to 2 p.m. – Caregiver Support Group – Gain knowledge, support, and resources from fellow caregivers.

Saturday October 7

Colfax – 2 to 4 p.m. – Drop-in TECH Time – Need tech help? Stop in and bring your device for hands-on tech assistance!

Colfax – 4 p.m. – Grandmother’s Tea – Join us for a community tea, honoring the Thrifty Grandmothers’ Club of Colfax!

Sunday October 8

“Unleash Your Story” Teen Reading Week Begins! Oct. 8 – Oct. 14 teens can celebrate by checking out a great read, writing a short story, or attending a fun teen program! View our online calendar for more details www.whitco.lib.wa.us

St. John – Teen Blackout Poetry Contest – Middle and H.S. students come create a poem of your own by taking already written pages and simply redacting text with a sharpie! Kits are available Oct. 6 – 13; submit to the library by Oct. 16.

Monday October 9

St. John – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – TECH Monday – Need help with your computer or device? Stop by for one-on-one support!

LaCrosse – 12:30 to 2 p.m. – Bingo & Pie – Join us for bingo, pie, and great prizes! Open to all ages!

Colfax – 6 to 7 p.m. – Fitness Boot Camp – Carissa will whip you into shape with fast results! Cardio, high impact exercises, muscle strengthening, flexibility, and coordination. Remember your hand weights, yoga mat, and water!

Tuesday October 10

Colfax – 9 to 11:30 a.m. – STEM Training – This free training is led by Mary Ellen Braks from the Spokane County Library District and addresses early numeracy skills for ages 3-5. STARS credit available.

Wednesday October 11

Colfax – 5 p.m. – Master Gardener Program – Master Gardener, Brian Bell, shares tips and techniques for starting in the fall on your spring garden! Librarian, Kristie Korslund, will be available for interest in our Seed Library!

Uniontown – 5 p.m. – Adult Craft Night – Join us on the 2nd Wednesday of the month for crafts and camaraderie!

Colfax – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Intro to Ukulele: Plus – Learn to play the ukulele from Scott Hallett! This ACT 2 class is for beginners and those with experience; it has an emphasis on fun, rather than theory! Oct. 11 – Nov 1, cost is $17.

Tekoa – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Attentive Parenting Workshop – Books, materials, & childcare are free. Call 284-3121 to register
