A Sampling of What's Happening at the Whitman County Library
 

Thursday, Sept. 7

Colfax – First Thursday – Join in the fall harvest fun and visit librarian, Kristie Ann, for the Seed Library Open House from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to learn how a seed library works and how you can join the gardening excitement! Visit downtown Colfax from 5 to 7 p.m. to enjoy Wylie and the Wild West perform for the crowd on West Spring Street!

Albion – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Thursday Art – Do you like paint? Markers? Mixed media art? All kids are invited to join us!

Palouse Empire Fair – Boots, Buckles, & Spurs: Celebrating 50 years of Rodeo! Visit the library booth to view Palouse Empire Fair photos from our Rural Heritage Collection, spin the wheel for prizes, name the library pig and say "HOWDY" to our friendly staff! Library booth will be open during exhibit hours.

Colfax – Palouse Empire Fair – Come see us at the Fair Sept. 7 – 10 during exhibit hours! Boots, Buckles, & Spurs: Celebrating 50 years of Rodeo! View our collection of fair photos, spin the wheel for prizes, or name the library pig!

Friday Sept. 8

Endicott, St. John & Uniontown – Storytime – Exciting stories, music, and activities are provided for kiddos and parents! Specific themes and times for each location are available on our website at www.whitco.lib.wa.us.

Colfax – 12 to 1 p.m. – Finding I AM – Join Beck Ewing for this six week women's interactive book study and discussion!

Colfax – 4:30 to 7:15 p.m. – Rising Stars Dance – Children’s dance classes are available for ballet, tap, tumble and jazz!

Saturday Sept. 9

Colfax – Grain Elevators of Whitman County – This photo exhibit features the rustic and vibrant photography of Dennis Witmer. The display will be available through October and includes over 60 sites…nearly every elevator in our county!

Sunday Sept. 10 Whitman County Library Rural District – Everybody Reads: Black River – Everybody is reading Black River by S.M. Hulse in anticipation of the regional author’s visit to Whitman County in early November. Sign-up to attend!

Monday Sept. 11

Colton – 10:30 a.m. – Early Learning Storytime – Families are invited for stories, snacks, and learning about colors!

St. John – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Tech Monday – Stop by for individualized help with your computer skills or device!

LaCrosse – 12:30 to 2 p.m. – Pie & BINGO – Fun, free, and open to all ages!

Colton – 3:30 p.m. – Ozobots – Kids 10 and up are invited to this STEM activity to learn about robotics and basic coding!

LaCrosse – 6:30 p.m. – Share with friends your thoughts on “City of Thieves” by David Benioff or suggest our next read! Albion – 7:30 p.m. – Join us to discuss our latest selection, “A Yellow Raft in Blue Water” by Michael Dorris.

Tuesday Sept. 12

Farmington & Rosalia – Storytime – Storytime has resumed for fall! Visit us online for details about your library!

Colfax – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Tech Tuesday: Ozobot Invasion – What is an Ozobot? Ozobots are tiny, line following robots programmed by color! Draw code or command robots digitally with Ozobot Apps. Kids second grade & up are welcome!

Palouse – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Crazy 8s Math – Kids grades 3–5 sign-up today for MATH GONE WILD! Crazy 8s is a fun, frenzied, and FREE afterschool program which is guaranteed to knock your socks off!

Wednesday Sept. 13

Garfield & Oakesdale – Storytime – Songs, games, & crafts are all part of the fun at storytime! Visit us online for details!

Endicott – 2:30 p.m. – Crazy 8s Math – Kids will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes & play games!

St. John – 2:30 p.m. – Afterschool Program – Kids in grades 1–5 are invited for exciting afterschool activities!

Uniontown – 5 to 6 p.m. – Adult Craft Night – Join us for a fantastic craft and an evening of camaraderie for grownups!

Tekoa – 6 to 7:30 p.m. – Attentive Parenting Workshop Series – Snacks are provided, childcare is paid for, plus books and materials are paid for…so what are you waiting for? Register today at (509) 284-3121 and be entered to win a prize!

LaCrosse – 7 p.m. – Ice Age Floods – Learn how the Ice Age changed the course of the Columbia River, incredible coulees, dry falls, scablands, and landslides along its path! This is the story of the mighty Columbia and Missoula floods!

Thursday Sept. 14

Colfax, LaCrosse, Rosalia – Storytime – Fun and learning for families all school year long! Call or visit us online for details!

Palouse – 4 p.m. – Ozobots – Learn how to code your own little robot! Ozobots are sponsored by WA State Library.
