Book club forming at Whitman County Library

Whitman County Library officials are asking residents interested in joining a book club or existing book clubs willing to add new members to contact them immediately.

Library director Kristie Kirkpatrick says the library would like to facilitate the expansion of local book clubs. She explains, “We’ve had a number of people new to the area ask where they can join a book club.” “Our hope is to muster enough interest to form a library book club or to at least be able to refer these people to clubs willing to accept new members.”

Besides assisting potential club members, the library is offering Book Club-in-a-Box kits to book clubs seeking inexpensive ways to provide your group with titles. The library’s kits consist of 8 titles that can be used free of charge and for longer periods of time than traditional library books. New titles are being added regularly, including bestselling favorites like The Big Burn, The Art of Racing in the Rain and Little Bee.

If you are interested in joining a book club, considering new members for your club, borrowing a Book Club in a Box or donating titles that your Club has already read, please contact Kristie Kirkpatrick at 509-397-4366.
