Storm
Prey
by John Sandford
At
the start of Sandford's superb 20th Lucas Davenport thriller the
getaway vehicle from a botched early morning robbery, which results
in a pharmacy employee's death, almost collides with the car driven
by Lucas's surgeon wife, Weather Karkinnen. Weather, who was on her
way to work at the Minnesota Medical Research Center, becomes a key
witness. Sharply drawn characters, intricate plotting, and smooth
dialogue make this a great read. |

Blue-eyed
Devil
by Robert B. Parker
This
excellent posthumous western from bestseller Parker continues the
saga of gun-slinging saddle pals Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch as
they trade wisecracks and gunfire in the town of Appaloosa. Cole and
Hitch used to be the law in town, but now Appaloosa has a corrupt,
ambitious, and deadly police chief named Amos Callico backed up by
12 rifle-toting cops of dubious background.
