Margaret
J. Miller, renowned quilt maker, author, and teacher from
Bremerton, WA, will be the Colfax Arts Councils first Meet the
Artist in the fourth season of this popular event. Miller will
kick off the return of the Meet the Artist series, suspended for
the past year during the Colfax library's renovation,Thursday,
September 9 at 7:00 pm at the Colfax Library.
Over her 30-year career,
Miller has developed innovative design techniques for making
dynamic quilts, which she teaches internationally. She has
authored several books, including Stunning AnglePlay Quilts,
AnglePlay Blocks, and Easy Pieces. She will be bringing many of
her quilts to show the audience.
Margaret will be in Colfax
to teach two weekend workshops sponsored by The Quilted Moose of
Colfax (More details and
registration forms can be found at www.myquiltedmoose.com.)
Samples of quilts for both workshops are on display at The
Quilted Moose.. We are so excited that Margaret agreed to come a
day early to be our featured artist, said Debi Anderson, Colfax
Arts Council president. It will be a rare treat to have such a
well-known quilter with us.
Libraries have been so
important in my life since I was a child, explained Miller. So
when I heard that this would be an opportunity to help celebrate
a renewed library, I was thrilled to participate.
After her presentation,
Margaret will sign copies of her books. The Quilted Moose will
have books available for purchase at the event.
The Meet the Artist series
presents artists from diverse disciplines each month and
provides an informal setting in which to view and discuss their
work. The series, which is free and open to the public, is held
on the first Thursday of the month and is sponsored by the
Colfax Arts Council in conjunction with the Friends of the
Whitman County Library.
