After
operating the library in a small, temporary location for nine
long months, the Colfax Branch of Whitman County Library will
reopen on Monday, August 9th at 10 a.m.
To celebrate the completion
of the renovation, the library invites the entire community to
attend a dedication ceremony and all day open house on
Wednesday, August 11.
The dedication will take
place on the main floor of the library at 7 p.m. with a number of key
library supporters taking part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Among these will be Lucille Willson, whose long-time friend
Kathy Schluneger left a 40 year memorial donation that will
offset the payments of the library's 40 year USDA loan. Also,
Matt and Jill Klaveano, who've been instrumental in the amazing
rain forest design of Hayden's Corner in memory of their son,
Hayden.
Besides the official ribbon
cutting, there will be a number of exciting options for kids all
day long. Starting at 10 a.m., they can explore Hayden's Corner
and the amazing Rain Forest tree, and also receive a stuffed
rain forest creature to keep for their very own. Slinky the
Clown will entertain from 10-12 a.m. Barring unexpected
emergencies, kids can sit in a real Colfax police car from 10:30
to 11:00 while the fire truck will be on hand from 1:30-2:00.
The Colfax Cheerleaders will be paint faces from 1-4 p.m. while
Reading Bear, storytelling, balloons and the spinning wheel of
prizes happen all day long.
Both children and adults are
invited to take guided tours through the newly renovated
library. Guests will ride in the new elevator, view the new
Rural Heritage exhibit and enjoy refreshments served by the
Friends of the Whitman County Library.
