Browser settings for using our online catalog

Those of you using our online catalog may have noticed a problem when requesting items.  If you try to request more than one item per session only your first request is processed properly.  The problem is caused by the way your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox) caches previously visited pages.  Following are the procedures to correct this problem.

In Internet Explore, click on "Tools".  Then go to "Internet Options".  Under "Temporary Internet files" click the "Settings" tab.  From the "Settings" menu, select "Every visit to the page."  Click "OK" and "OK" again.  You should now be able to request more than one book per session (you can still only request one book at a time.)

In Firefox it is a bit more difficult.  Open a new tab.  In the address bar, type "about:config".  Notice it is a full colon between about and config.

A menu as below should appear.

Scroll down to "browser.cache.check_doc_frequency".  Note that the default value is 3.

Double click "browser.cache.check_doc_frequency".  Enter "1" in the box that appears.

Click "OK."   Close the tab.  You should now be able to request more than one book per session (you can still only request one book at a time.)
