Parents
and caregivers: Mark your event calendar each Thursday for a
FREE Storytime at the Colfax Library beginning September 10th.
Storytime at the Colfax branch is divided into three age groups:
BABY TIME-ages 0-2 from 10:10-10:30 am; TODDLER TIME-ages 2
& 3 from 10:30-11:00 am and PRESCHOOL TIME-ages 4 & 5
from 11:00-11:30 am.
Storytime offers a valuable
listening and pre-reading experience for children. A variety of
books and activities cater to infants, toddlers, preschoolers,
and their families.
The focus this year is:
Learning the Alphabet From A to Z featuring letters and sounds.
Each week a new letter is introduced with visual and phonemic
activities, all planned to promote reading readiness in your
child. Through stories, poetry and music, children acquire
information as well as an appreciation for the written word and
fine illustration.
Storytime allows each child
time to share good stories and to express him or herself.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to Storytime. At
Storytime, children participate in a variety of imaginative
activities that include poetry, fingerplays and action
activities, games, musical events, crafts, puppets, and creative
dramatics. All Free! These fun activities help promote cognitive
development and reading readiness.
